Louis A. Fernandez, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P. has been practicing Cardiology and Internal Medicine for the past 20 years with offices in Hialeah and Kendall. In 2008 he founded The Institute for Cardiovascular Disease at Doral, after leaving S. F. C. A., a group that he co-founded in 1992. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He has vast experience in Critical Care Medicine and Emergency Room care. He also has expertise in Primary Care Medicine.

Dr. Fernandez completed his Medical Degree from the Universidad Technologica de Santiago School of Medicine in Santo Domingo. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Miami and a Master of Science Degree in Embryology and Biochemistry from C.W. Post College of Long Island University.

Dr. Fernandez completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. His Cardiology Fellowship and training was completed at Mount Sinai Medical Center here on Miami Beach.

For 14 years, Dr. Fernandez served on the Board of Directors for Kendall Regional Medical Center. He recently finished serving as Chief of Staff and Chief of Cardiology at Kendall Regional. He has also served on numerous committees including the Medical Executive Committee and the Credentials Committee. He is a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the Barry University Physician Assistant Program.

The doctor has been elected as a prestigious Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has published and presented papers with the American College of Physicians.
